Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens (LKH) is a social service agency and a registered charity with Institution of a Public Character (IPC) status. The organisation was established in 1983 in Serangoon Gardens with the missional focus to care for the aged sick and needy.
LKH’s early beginnings can be traced to a free medical clinic set up by Ling Kwang Mission in the late 1960s. The clinic was run by volunteer medical doctors and nurses, seeing patients from the neighbouring kampongs in Cheng San, Ang Mo Kio and Yio Chu Kang.
Today, LKH has evolved to become a 350-bed nursing home run by full-time professionals providing residential nursing care, day care as well as Integrated Home and Day Care services to the elderly regardless of their race, language or religion.
At LKH, our model of care is holistic, encompassing not just meeting medical and functional needs, but also includes catering for the psychosocial, pastoral and spiritual well-being of the elderly. Our residents and clients are cared for by a multidisciplinary team that include nurses, medical doctors, allied healthcare professionals and ancillary staff.
When the current Additions & Alterations works to our facility complete in 2026, we are expected to have enlarged residential capacity to serve up to 400 residents and expanded space for a bigger day care centre for the elderly in the community.
Welcome to Ling Kwang Home!
A wise leader once said, “The measure of a society is found in how they treat their weakest and most helpless.” This profound statement resonates deeply with our mission. Since being founded in 1983, we have been guided everyday by our founders' ethos, “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister” (Matthew 20:28) and “Blessed are the merciful” (Matthew 5:8), to provide vulnerable seniors from all backgrounds with holistic, quality and compassionate care.
Adopting the person-centred approach, our dedicated frontliners and support teams work tirelessly to ensure that each resident and client is well cared for in a safe and conducive environment, giving them quality of life in their golden years. We also adopt a continuous improvement culture where staff training is an important part of their development to remain skilful in what they do. We also emphasise that staff develop our H.E.A.R.T. values of humility, excellence, accountability, respect and transparency in order that they may regard residents and colleagues with love, dignity and kindness.
In 2024, our Home commenced the Additions and Alterations Project to our facilities. Whilst we have had various building extensions and upgrades previously, this is to-date the most major and costly renovation, which is expected to complete in 2026. Upon completion, we would have increased residential capacity of up to 400 beds and enlarged space to grow our day care centre for the elderly. This is part of our ongoing commitment to meet the rising needs of an ageing society in the best possible care environment.
I am also proud and honoured to share that Ling Kwang Home was awarded the Charity Transparency Award 2024! Granted by the Charity Council, the accolade recognises charities with exemplary disclosure practices in key areas, as guided by the Code of Governance for Charities and Institutions of a Public Character. This recognition fuels our passion to continue serving with integrity and transparency, ensuring that Ling Kwang Home remains credible to our stakeholders. Leading this Home for the last 4 years, I am thankful that our Home has been the beneficiary of committed support from volunteers, donors and other stakeholders in the community. Our management and staff are able to provide better care for our residents and clients because of your contributions. This is indeed a place where love binds us all together to the praise and glory of God!
We are excited about the future and remain dedicated to our mission of serving with compassion and excellence. Thank you for your continued support and trust in Ling Kwang Home. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our seniors.

Free Clinic in Serangoon Gardens
Ling Kwang Free Medical Clinic is set up in March 1968 by Zion and Faith Bible-Presbyterian Churches for the poor and needy in the neighbouring ‘kampung’ areas.
Birth of Ling Kwang Home for Senior Citizens
The Home officially opens its doors at Serangoon Garden Way on 31st December 1983 to house residents in its newly developed 2-storey building.
Day Care Centre for the Elderly
A Day Care Centre within the Home starts, its psychosocial and rehabilitative programme which also facilitated increased social interaction amongst the elderly.
Expanding Our Home 1 (Extension Block)
An L-shaped 4-storey extension is added to increase bed capacity in the Home. A basement carpark with a “roof-top” landscaped garden and multi-purpose common rooms are also part of the extension.
Expanding Our Home 2 (Garden Wing)
The Home celebrates its 20th Anniversary with the opening of a second 4-storey extension aptly named “Garden Wing” due to its luscious green surroundings, which includes a Multi-Purpose Hall with galleries and a physiotherapy atrium.
Introducing the SPICE Programme
The Integrated Day Care Centre (IDCC) – SPICE (Singapore Programme for Integrated Care for the Elderly) is launched as the first SPICE Centre within a nursing home, to provide care support to the elderly living in the community.
Opening of Dementia Ward
A purpose-built Dementia Ward is established to provide residential care for persons with dementia.
Integrated Home and Day Care (IHDC) Centre
The SPICE programme transitions to IHDC programme by expanding the scope of care support services to suit the increasingly complex and diverse care needs of the frail elderly who prefer to age-in-place in the community.
Awarded Charity Transparency Award 2024
This award is granted by the Charity Council in recognition of charities with exemplary disclosure practices in key areas, as guided by the Code of Governance for Charities and Institutions of a Public Character.
The triangle represents the caring of the whole person: physical, mental and spiritual (1 Thess 5:23). It also speaks of the three Christian values - Faith, Hope and Love (1 Cor 13:13).
